The past tense of the word 'explode' is 'exploded'. Just like a firework painting the dark sky with a sudden burst of colors, English verbs change their form to express different times. We call this transformation 'tense'. In the case of 'explode', it's a regular verb, and typically for these verbs, we simply add '-d' or '-ed' at the end to get the past tense. So, we go from 'explode' in the present, to 'exploded' in the past! Much like a completed firework show, the action is finished and thus in the past.
