The past tense of the word "float" is "floated". It's a regular verb, so to form the past tense, you simply add "-ed" to the end. So, when you're telling a story about something that happened in the past, you might say, "I floated in the pool all afternoon." Similarly, when forming the past participle for perfect tenses, you'd also use "floated", as in "I have floated on the Dead Sea". English language offers a lot of these regular verbs, allowing us to describe events from the past simply by adding "-ed" to the verb root.
